Keith A Pettit is a British sculptor, wood engraver and letterer based in East Sussex. Originally trained as a signwriter, he brings attention to hand-cut lines and typography to both small prints and large sculptural works. Found timber is carved, burned, oiled and assembled in response to its grain, knots and weathered surfaces rather than treated as a uniform material. His engraving practice uses traditional tools on end-grain boxwood, exploring landscape, folklore and human presence. Alongside sculptures for outdoor and interior settings, he cuts lettering in stone for memorials and architectural projects and welcomes studio visitors at arranged times.
