Roger Stephens is a sculptor working from a studio in Salisbury, creating pieces in stone, iron, stainless steel and bronze. His subjects draw on natural forms, industrial structures, language and political ideas, with contrasting textures encouraging close physical engagement. Before becoming a full-time sculptor in 2001, he spent nine years as a carver and stonemason on the repair programme at Salisbury Cathedral. He trained in architectural stone masonry and carving at Weymouth College. His independent practice supplies galleries and exhibitions and accepts commissions for private collectors, public organisations and schools.
