Elvis & Kresse is a design and making practice founded in 2005 to turn discarded materials into bags, belts and other accessories. Its first products used decommissioned London fire hoses, beginning with a range of belts before expanding into totes, wallets and travel pieces. The practice also combines rescued leather with fire hose through its Fire & Hide system, and makes its own products rather than outsourcing all production. It designs for long use, repair and eventual deconstruction, with repairs offered at cost for life. Based at New Barns Farm in Kent, the business operates a straw-bale workshop and donates half of its fire-hose profits to the Fire Fighters Charity and half of its leather profits to Barefoot College International.
