Assemblage Studio is the independent clothing practice of Emma, a designer working from her sewing studio in Michigan. She creates androgynous, one-of-a-kind garments from salvaged vintage textiles, including materials that need cleaning, mending or careful reconstruction. Vintage workwear, American heritage and the industrial character of the Midwest inform the clothing. Her background combines fashion design with museum studies and experience in historical apparel and textile archives. Design and production take place in her own studio, with buttons, thread and zippers sourced from small businesses in the United States and Japan. Collections include garments made from mid-century souvenir textiles and vintage materials featuring camp memorabilia.
