Lou Jessop is a textile artist who transforms donated, unwearable knitwear into textured pictures and small stitched figures. Her image-making combines relief applique with dense woollen hand-stitching, bringing representational subjects together with pattern and abstraction. Literature, myths and legends often provide starting points for the work. Sleeves left from the same garments are reused to make softly stuffed woollen people, extending the material rather than discarding usable pieces. Named figures shown on her site include Krishna I, Krishna II and Heart & Bones. She lists participation in the Caversham Arts Trail and Whiteknights Studio Trail and welcomes studio visitors by arrangement.
