Van der Laan is the independent clothing label of Germany-based designer and dancer Joost van der Laan. The practice explores how garments behave in movement, connecting a background in fashion, pattern making and digital design with experience of dance. Relaxed silhouettes and considered details are developed for everyday wear without separating appearance from physical comfort. Collections are designed in Germany and produced with selected manufacturing partners in small quantities. Releases follow the development of the work rather than a fixed seasonal timetable. The label's focus on clothing in motion is reflected in pieces intended to be worn, adapted and made personal by the people who use them.
