Inga Plönnigs is an award-winning independent type designer based in Berlin, dividing her time between international commissions and self-initiated type projects. Her work is informed by history, necessity and vernacular forms, and ranges from distinctive display designs to more resilient text-oriented families. Plönnigs holds a master's degree from the Type and Media programme at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and remains active in the wider type community through Future Fonts and Women in Type. Her portfolio includes families such as Magnet, Messer, Zetkin and Ringi, each exploring different structural and historical ideas while remaining usable as contemporary type systems. Selected clients listed on her site include Commercial Type, Frere-Jones Type, Schick-Toikka, Sharp Type, Vectro Type Foundry and other specialist foundries.
