Nasir Udin is an independent type designer and illustrator based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, working through Nasir Udin Studio. Before concentrating on fonts, he created vintage travel posters under the Vectro label, and that illustration background continues to influence the visual character of his type practice. His work looks to mid-century graphic culture while also drawing on new technology, combining retro references with more contemporary and futuristic ideas. Udin began type design as a side project in 2016 and later made it his full-time occupation, developing retail fonts distributed through several international marketplaces. Alongside typefaces, he continues to produce illustration and print work, keeping lettering, image-making and typographic form closely connected in the same independent studio practice.
