Tobias Saul is a German lettering and type designer whose early interest in graffiti and illustration led to graphic design studies in Dusseldorf. He began specialising in custom lettering and type design during those studies, developing work that ranges from detailed ornamental compositions to cleaner contemporary designs. His portfolio covers branding, editorial illustration, logos and posters, with a separate gallery devoted to identity marks. He released his first typeface, Blackriver, in 2017 and describes font design and sales as the main focus of his business. The portfolio's font page directs purchasers to Heritage Type, where he moved his shop. His About page states that commissioned work is paused while he concentrates on type design, although a public email remains available for questions.
