Mary Broughton is a surface pattern designer based on Australia’s Gold Coast in Queensland, creating designs for fabric and wallpaper. Her work takes its starting points from nature, architecture, traditional motifs, abstract forms and familiar everyday objects. She combines drawn and painted elements with digital construction, building layers of colour and experimenting with arrangements until the repeat is resolved. Photoshop is her principal software, and her official biography also describes continuing exploration of Illustrator and new techniques. Her practice is open to licensing, artwork purchases and collaborations, with a portfolio and product ordering information for buyers. The website offers fabric by the metre and wallpaper by the roll, along with samples that allow customers to assess a design before ordering.
