LIA is an Austrian artist based in Vienna whose software art practice has developed continuously since 1995. She works with code as an artistic material across video, performance, installation, projection, sculpture and digital applications. Her process begins by translating an idea or observation into a written system, then repeatedly adjusting that system in response to the results it produces. Once this framework is established, the artwork can generate its own evolving forms. Her abstract compositions bring the visual traditions of drawing and painting into contact with algorithms, using restrained combinations of movement, colour and shape. The official portfolio documents both gallery presentations and site-specific projects, including generative imagery for St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, alongside an archive of exhibitions and other professional activity.
