Rachel Westhead is a freelance surface pattern designer and illustrator based in New Brighton in the UK. Her work takes natural and organic forms as its starting point, developing quick drawings and doodles into vector patterns. She favours bold, simplified shapes and contrasting bright colours, using plants and animals to create playful decorative images. The designs have been applied to products ranging from garden furniture to stationery and fabrics, showing how the same illustrative approach moves between large and small surfaces. Through a relationship of more than a decade with Cinnamon Joe Studio, she has sold work to companies including Paperchase, Waitrose, Target and Hallmark. She also invites direct enquiries for licensing, commissions and creative collaborations through her portfolio website.
