Josue Morales Urbina is an installation and sculpture artist based in the New York metropolitan area. Born in Guatemala City and raised across different cultural settings, he explores displacement, memory and the experience of belonging through abstract installations. His materials include drinking straws, coffee beans, rubber bands and toasted bread, giving ordinary household objects a role in these environments. He describes making art as a way to construct a sense of home. He holds a BFA from the University of Texas at San Antonio, is an alumnus of Skowhegan and has completed a residency at the Vermont Studio Center. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
