Pipistrelle Pottery is the independent ceramics practice of Emily Whitley, based in Hampshire, England. She makes handmade pieces in collections linked by common themes, shapes and sizes, with few products reproduced a second time. Her ceramics education began at Bedales School with sculptor Andy Cheese and continued through courses at Vinegar Hill Pottery, 318 Ceramics and Milton Keynes Art Centre. She has also been a production member at Turning Earth Studios in London and describes sculpture studies at West Street Potters. Alongside making, Emily works part-time as an ecologist surveying protected species, a background reflected in the studio name and its Pip logo. The official portfolio brings together ceramics, sculpture, studio activity and sources of inspiration, while the shop offers her individually made work directly.
