Roger Cockram is an artist and potter living and working in North Devon, with a studio and gallery in Chittlehampton. He produces individual pieces in high-temperature fine porcelain inspired by the nearby sea and coast, alongside domestic kitchenware. Before attending Harrow School of Art, he worked as a scientist and teacher, and his early pottery centred on kitchen wares made in wood-fired stoneware. Natural water later became a major subject for the work, connecting his coastal surroundings with an ongoing interest in ceramic form and surface. He is a Fellow of the Craft Potters Association of Great Britain and an Academician of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts. His work appears in private and public collections internationally, and he has lectured and demonstrated at arts associations and colleges in Britain and overseas.
