Sue Pryke is a British ceramic designer whose independent collection includes teapots, cups, mugs, diningware, vases and lampshades. She began learning production throwing at a small Lincolnshire pottery in the mid-1980s, before working as a shape designer at Wedgwood after graduation. Her subsequent experience includes more than twenty years of in-house and freelance design for retailers and manufacturers. She develops initial prototypes directly in materials, adjusting shapes during making and taking inspiration from ordinary objects, textures and daily use. Her own ceramics are slipcast in plaster moulds and then individually trimmed and sponged by hand, combining repeatable forms with extensive manual finishing. The Mr and Mrs Collection brings her pared-back household objects together with work by her husband John and his company Wild and Wood.
