MOZEI is the furniture practice of Jan Mokrzecki, who designs and makes bespoke pieces in Utrecht in the Netherlands. An architecture graduate, he describes almost a decade of experience in high-end design as the background to his independent work. Each commission is developed around the customer's needs and wishes, beginning with an idea and sketches before progressing to a fully detailed three-dimensional digital model. This modelling stage allows the proposed furniture to be considered before woodworking begins, making the design process an explicit part of the service. All woodworking is carried out in-house, and the studio states that it uses sustainably sourced wood exclusively. The practice therefore brings custom design, digital development and hands-on production together within the same studio.
