Claud Christian is the Newcastle upon Tyne studio founded in 2019 by furniture and product designer-makers Claudia Surrage and Christian Cowper. The pair met in a ceramics studio, and their first joint work was ceramic sculpture before their practice expanded into furniture, lighting and textiles. They develop projects with brands in Europe and the United States while also producing their own range of furniture, lights and ceramic objects. Their workshop and design office offer creative direction and concept development alongside design engineering, technical drawings and three-dimensional modelling. Prototyping, 3D printing and product photography form part of their services, connecting the development of an idea with its physical production and presentation.
