Locomalito is the personal game-making project of a Spanish creator who develops classic-style video games alongside a career in branding. The project began publishing completed games on its own website in 2008, and its catalogue includes Hydorah, Maldita Castilla, The Curse of Issyos and Toxic Tomb. Pixel art and chiptune music are central to the work, which draws on close study of arcade games and concentrates on compact, demanding action. The games aim for challenges that are intense but fair, with unnecessary material removed from each run. Although the project is personal, regular collaborators contribute music, cover illustrations and adaptations for additional platforms. Freeware releases are accompanied by printable materials such as covers, manuals and posters, extending the games beyond their downloadable files.
