Kate Malone is a ceramic artist working from studios in Thanet and London, with a practice spanning studio pottery, public art and glaze research. Natural forms, including fruit and vegetables, provide subjects for vessels and sculptures, while abstract structures in nature inform her Atomic series. She develops ceramic surfaces through research into glaze chemistry and sustained experimentation with glazing techniques. Her official introduction describes a career of more than thirty years and collaborations with architects and designers on work for hospitals, schools, parks and libraries. The portfolio includes the architectural facade at 24 Savile Row and the Carlton Hill Story Walls in Brighton. Alongside these public and commercial projects, her decorative work includes crystalline-glazed stoneware gourds, moon jars and other sculptural forms.
