Leslie Ann Eliet is a painter, printmaker and book artist based on Cape Ann, Massachusetts, working through Iron Fish Studio. She studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston with Japanese painter and calligrapher Kaji Aso. Her practice combines Western and Japanese methods, using etching, aquatint, sumi ink and watercolour in abstract responses to landscape. The Walking Ink Meditations series develops through accordion books, folding screens and installations that change as viewers move or unfold them. Light, season, memory and the quiet places around ponds and woodland guide her imagery, which seeks to evoke an environment rather than describe it literally.
