Stacy Ward is a self-taught surface pattern and textile designer based in Minnesota. Her hand-drawn designs take inspiration from colour, childhood memories and everyday moments, with collections intended for fabrics, wallpaper, homewares and stationery. She began learning surface design in 2018 after running a handmade baby-bedding business and searching for fabrics that matched her ideas. Her process starts with pencil and pen sketches, which are refined digitally into repeat patterns. She develops both coordinated collections and individual designs, making work available for licensing and through a shop. Her practical experience as a maker informs the way she considers scale, application and the needs of small creative businesses.
