Carolyn Murphy is a London-born artist and printmaker based in Manchester. She explores landscapes as memory and metaphor, drawing on outdoor observation and the city's post-industrial surroundings. Her techniques include linocut, etching, collagraph and monoprint, producing layered images concerned with light, surface, pattern and space. Sketches and studies develop into hand-printed works, with experimentation and chance remaining part of the process. Her practice also extends into three-dimensional print installations, including work developed during an artist residency at the University of Chester using traditional methods and laser cutting. She holds an MA in Fine Art Printmaking from Middlesex University and offers prints, workshops and enquiries about collaborative projects through her website.
