Dave Bain is a freelance illustrator based at Jamaica Street Studios in Bristol, where he established his practice after graduating from Falmouth. He takes editorial, promotional, advertising, branding and publishing commissions, often using colourful stylised characters. His stated influences include screen printing, risograph processes, colour theory, picture books and mid-century illustration. As a muralist, he designs and paints public artworks for private, commercial, charity and hospital settings, sometimes incorporating community workshops into their development. He also lectures on illustration, offers portfolio advice and provides individual and group mentoring. His industry work includes coordinating meet-ups for the Association of Illustrators and hosting its Inside Illustration Creative Practice Course.
