Peter Donders is a Belgian designer and craftsman whose practice combines traditional making with digital and parametric design. Trained in furniture making, he became a self-employed carpenter before adopting 3D and CAD tools, and since 1999 has deliberately brought those two modes of working together. Donders experiments with materials and production methods including wood, carbon fibre and 3D printing, using new technology to extend rather than replace craft knowledge. His autonomous work includes furniture and sculptural objects, while he also consults with international teams on large projects such as stadiums and theatres. Since 2013 he has taught 3D-print product design, adding education to a practice built around experimentation, fabrication and digitally developed form.
