Simo Lahtinen is a Helsinki-based independent industrial designer working across furniture, lighting and everyday objects. His approach explores the point where sculptural form and practical function become inseparable, rather than treating appearance and usability as competing priorities. Lahtinen’s background includes architecture, urban infrastructure and user-centred design, which gives the studio experience at both object and environmental scales. He founded Studio Simo Lahtinen in 2018 and develops self-initiated projects alongside collaborations, with work shown internationally. His education includes Aalto University and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, while recent grants and competition recognition support an ongoing practice focused on materials, use and carefully resolved physical form.
