Jane Adam is a jewellery maker working from her own studio in south-west London, with a practice established after graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1985. Her work combines dyed anodised aluminium with a separate exploration of silver, gold and layered precious-metal bimetals. She develops colour through experimentation with printing, painting and other marking processes, and also creates layered designs digitally for printing onto aluminium. Rolling and deforming the metal introduces texture and fine surface cracks, while rivets, tensioned wires and stitching offer ways to assemble a material that cannot be soldered. Her precious-metal pieces extend these interests in folded structure and textured surfaces, sometimes incorporating stones or freshwater pearls. Alongside international exhibitions and museum collections, her career includes teaching, research and leadership within contemporary jewellery organisations.
