Tyler Hobbs is a visual artist from Austin, Texas, whose work combines algorithms, pen plotters and painting. He writes custom programs to generate imagery and examines how the characteristics of computer hardware and software influence visual form. His practice brings structured computational systems into contact with drawing, organic variation and the irregularities of hand-made marks. Studio projects include Fidenza and QQL, the latter developed as a collaborative generative experiment with Dandelion Mane. His official biography records solo exhibitions at Unit in London and Pace Gallery in New York, with works held by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. He holds a computer science degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
