Hadley Hendrix is an editorial designer and typesetter based in Chicago. She works with publishers, magazines and authors on book interiors, covers, ebook conversion and print management. Her process starts with understanding the project's purpose, audience, style and production budget before developing a custom design. Readability, accessibility and the reader's experience inform decisions about typography, margins, bindings and finishes. Experience across several stages of publishing helps her identify production issues and keep the broader workflow organised, even when supporting only one part of a project. She also writes about editorial design, InDesign techniques and the practical work behind making publications.
